Tuition and Payment Policies

About Our Rates:

 

**All registration, enrollment, and class fees are non-refundable.**

  • Payments

    • Registration Fees

      • There is a non-refundable registration fee ($30 per student/$50 per family) due upon enrollment for the School Year.

        • Registration fees are charged to the card on file once registration and enrollment is complete.

        • Registration fees are paid in the Fall unless you enroll for the first time in the Spring.

    • Weekly Class Tuition 

      • Weekly class fees cover 3-4 weeks of classes per month as defined by date below.

      • Family Tuition - These rates apply to one student or more than one student in the same immediate family.

        • Class lengths:

          • 30 Minute Class = 0.5 class

          • 50-60 Minute Class = 1 class

          • 80-90 Minute Class = 1.5 class

        • Total immediate family charge per month:
          • 0.5 class/week = $36/month
          • 1 class/week = $48/month
          • 1.5 classes/week = $67/month

          • 2 classes/week = $86/month

          • 2.5 classes/week = $108/month

          • 3 classes/week = $129/month

          • 3.5 classes/week = $151/month

          • 4 classes/week = $172/month

          • 4.5 classes/week = $194/month

          • 5 classes/week = $215/month

          • 5.5 classes/week = $237/month

          • UNLIMITED CLASSES = $250/month

    • Production class fees are NOT counted in weekly class totals and do NOT count towards "unlimited classes"

Pricing Examples My son is taking 2 one-hour classes and my daughter is taking 2 30-minute classes = 3 classes/week

My daughter is taking a 50 minute class and a 60 minute class.  My son is taking a 30 minute class. = 2.5 classes/week

  • Weekly Class Payment Schedule:

    • The first month’s tuition payment of the semester is due upon enrollment (August/January) 

    • On the 28th of each month, tuition for the next month is posted to your account

    • On the 1st of each month, tuition for the month will be charged to the card on file along with any other unpaid fees on the account.

  • Unpaid Fees

    • On the 5th of each month - a $10 late fee will be added if payment did not go through and has not been corrected.

    • On the 10th of each month - students will be unenrolled if class fees will still remain on the account if not dropped properly.

  • Dropped weekly Classes: Enrollment in weekly classes assumes enrollment for the entire semester.  You must notify us by email to derbychildrenstheatre@gmail.com of the intent to drop a weekly class at least 2 days before the last day of the month to avoid payment for the upcoming month.

  • Production Class Tuition is charged as a flat fee due at the time of enrollment.

    • Production classes are open to students who are concurrently enrolled in a weekly singing, acting, or dancing class at DCT or in private lessons.

    • $185 per student, $350 for 2 siblings, +$100 for each additional sibling

      • Includes show shirt and production day meal

      • Cost goes towards: production licensing, scripts and music, theatre rental, directors and choreographers,, tech coordinator fees, scenery and props, microphone rentals, and more production fees. 

    • Unpaid Fees

      • Students will not be able to take home a script to practice for auditions until the fee is paid.

      • Students who have not paid by auditions will be removed from the show.

  • Families may pay their fees at any time on the parent portal.  

  • Completing registration means cardholders give Derby Children’s Theatre permission to charge the debit or credit card provided. 

    • DCT accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. 

    • It is required that all families complete our registration form and set up an account on our parent portal available on our website. There will be a place on the registration form to enter your debit/credit card information.

    • All tuition and unpaid fees are charged by AUTOPAY to your credit card/debit card on file on the 1st day of each month. 

      • This includes any fees you have accrued over the month, such as recital costume fees, photography fees, etc.

  • Students will not be allowed to enroll in the next semester if their account is unpaid.

  • Additional Payment Policies:

    • Full tuition is due each month even for months that have holidays (monthly tuition covers 3-4 weeks of classes). Payment insures the student’s place in their classes.

    • There are no refunds for tuition or fees, or discounts for missed classes.

    • New students who begin after the first lesson of the month will be responsible for paying the full tuition.

    • Summer session is not prorated.

    • We will attempt to make up instructor absences if a sub is unavailable.

    • Please be respectful of students and staff and keep your child home if they are ill.

 

  • Weather/Act of God Policy

    • For the safety of our students and staff, we will cancel class if there is a severe threat of weather or other “Act of God” preventing us from holding class.

      • If Derby Public schools cancels due to inclement weather, we will also cancel classes.  

      • If there is a significant threat of extreme weather as per local meteorologists, we will cancel classes.

      • In the event of a Tornado Warning, we will be closed.

    • Class cancellations are emailed to the primary account on file and posted to Facebook.

    • Classes cancelled due to weather will not be made up unless the class has missed a significant amount of sessions, as determined by the owner/director and teacher.

    • It is ultimately up to you, the guardian, to determine whether or not you feel safe attending classes in the event that we do not close for weather.  DCT is not responsible for weather related incidents.

Tickets

  • Performance tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door (ages 3+)

    • Tickets may be purchased in advance at https://derbyctbooktix.com

    • We accept Card or Cash at the door.

      • We do not have change for cash payments.  Please bring exact change.  Extra payment will be considered a donation.



Costume Fees

  • Musical/Theatre Performance Costumes - Families are responsible for costuming their students for performances.  Some families choose to make costumes and others choose the purchase them.  Teachers and Directors will provide guidance as to appropriate outfitting for their character.  We unfortunately do not have a costume shop to pull from.  

  • Recital Costumes (Spring Semester Only) An additional costume fee will be due April 1st for classes ordering recital costumes during the spring session. Enrollment in spring classes is acceptance of the costume fee, as all spring students are expected to perform in recital. By enrolling in spring classes, you agree to pay the costume fee and it will be automatically billed to your account. Costume fees are non-refundable. DCT must be notified by February 1st of a student’s absence from recital in order to not be charged.  

    • DCT Teachers will work with students and families to choose the most appropriate costume for their class. Costumes have a large range, but typically fall between $50-$75.  Some acting classes may use a DCT t-shirt for their costume



 

DCT Payment Schedule: 2025-2026

Weekly Class Tuition is non-refundable and covers 3 or 4 weeks of classes (defined by date below).



Fall Session: (5 months)

August payment covers the 1st month (Aug 18 - Sep 6).    

September payment covers the 2nd month (Sept 7 - Sept 27) 

October payment covers the 3rd month (Sept 28 - Oct 25)    

November payment covers the 4th month (Oct 26 - Nov 29)  

December payment covers the 5th month (Nov 30 - Dec 20) 



Winter/Spring Session: (5 months)

January payment covers the 1st month (Jan 5 - Jan 31)

February payment covers the 2nd month (Feb 1 - Feb 28)

March payment covers the 3rd month (March 1 - March 28)

April payment covers the 4th month (March 29 - April 25)

May payment covers the 5th month (April 26 - May 23)

 

Dates of No Classes: 2025-2026

September 1st, 2025 - Labor Day

October 31st, 2025 - Halloween

November 23-29, 2025 - Thanksgiving Break

December 21, 2025 - January 4th, 2026 - Winter Break

March 15-22, 2026 - Spring Break
